AMANZIMTOTI Bowling Club congratulates Linden Cooper who defeated Lofty van Tonder in the final of the men’s open singles, and will now represent the club in the Port Natal Champion of Champions.

Very well done to Doreen Salmond who beat Amanda Ninow in the final of the women’s kandicap singles.

In the semi-final of the women’s drawn pairs, Jeanne Alexander and Carole Glaves overcame Pam Chalder-Royle and Margaret van Belkum. In women’s nominated pairs, Julie Sutherland and Amanda Ninow beat Talla and Lesley Stephens-Viviers. Robyn Hutton beat Nita Meumann in the women’s senior singles; and Denise Bingham got the better of Vera Broskie.

In the men’s nominated pairs, John Marsh and Ian Mills defeated Boet Els and Dave McMillan. Ian Crouch had a good win against Dave McMillan in the men’s senior singles; Graham Ellis beat Wessie van der Westhuizen; and Graham prevailed in the next round against Dallas Davis. After a marathon novice singles game of 28 ends, Dean Cooper overcame Gary Wise. Gary was also beaten by Greg Veldtman; and Keith West defeated Steve Woor.

Big Chicks winners were Greg McLeod, Lynn Joubert, Alec Stirzaker and Andrew Walker; runners-up were Linden and Heather Cooper, Boet Els and Greg Veldtman; in third place were Glen Scorgie, Terry Morgan, Nicky Stirzaker and Martin Birch. Second session went to Adie Fuller, Vish Studinski, Colin Spence and Karen Shepherd; the 13th prize was won by Owen Turner, Paul Davies, Steve Woor and Jacqui Birch; and the most bowls went to Heather Brown, Bobby Henderson, Lys McDonald and Les Brown. Well done to the team of Alan McGregor, Brian Crause, Pete Shepard and Noreen Butler who scored an eight.

At TGIF Mike Goldstone won the 100 board. Alan Foster was not present at the attendance draw. Next week’s draw will go up to R200. Lyndon Smith unluckily did not choose the correct key, however his key had a white dot so he got the R100 consolation prize. This week’s key draw is worth R1,490.

Check the board for carded games for Saturday and Sunday, 22 and 23 July. Also note the list is up for the annual mixed fours festival, which will be played over the weekend of 16 and 17 September. There are good prizes to be won so get your teams on the list soon.

Happy birthday wishes go this week to Andy McDonald, Peter Callaghan, Shane Tocher, Willem Pelser, Bobby Stewart, Neil Harris, Jeanette Clarence, Kathy Sharp and Herbert Hoffman. Good health is wished to all members.
