Winklespruit BC gears up for 85th anniversary trips

THE overall winners of the Warner Beach Caltex twinkle trips at Winklespruit Bowling Club were Nita Meuman, Amanda Ninow and Maggie Robertson.

Second session winners were Tokkie de Kock, Hazel Willis and Joyce Mackrory.

Linda McGregor was the winner of the 100 board. The spider went the way of Elaine Critchlow and the mystery prize winner was Estelle van der Merwe.

Paul Els, Wessie van der Westhuizen and Herman van Zyl were the overall winners of the Warner Beach KwikSpar Tops men’s trips. The second session was taken by Herbie Hofmann, Owen Turner and George Cormack. Steve Evenwel was the 100 board winner.

Overall winners for the Les John 2-4-2 played on Saturday were Eddie and Lou Lou Bingham. Bill and Linda Hobbs won the second session and Elmarie Young and Freddy Hetterscheidt were victorious in the first session. The 100 board winner was Tokkie de Kock.

Annalie Pienaar and Trish Farmer were the victors over Elaine Critchlow and Linda Hobbs in the first leg of the women’s pairs. In the first leg of the senior men’s singles Freddy Hetterscheidt beat Adrian Morrison and Bill Hobbs was victorious over John Scott. Elaine Critchlow and Brian Bodley beat Bill and Linda Hobbs in the first leg of the mixed nominated pairs.

There will once again be a meal this Friday evening. Put your names on the list on the notice board or let Trish Farmer know before Friday if you are attending, for catering reasons.

Diarise the following date: The monthly mixed trips will be played this Sunday morning at 8.30am for 9am. Notify Brian Farmer of availability to play. There will be a bring and braai after the game. The Winkle 85th anniversary will be celebrated with a trips competition to be played on Friday, 28 July. There will be a game of 18 ends in the morning and then another 18 ends in the afternoon, after lunch.

Social bowls will be played on Wednesday and Friday afternoons, with a starting time of 1.30pm for 2pm. Members who are not well are wished a speedy recovery. Prayers and thoughts are with them.
