By Cher E Bell

THERE were mixed results in the final league games on Saturday for Amanzimtoti Bowling Club (ABC) teams.

Congratulations to the women’s B team who played at Hillcrest against Lahee Park A, scoring 3-2.

Under skips Julie Sutherland and Heather Brown, they have had consistently good results to top the second division.

The women’s A team lost 0-5 at Toti against Bluff A; and the C team lost 0-5 against Hillary A at Winklespruit.

In the men’s league, Toti A won 5-2 against Stella Park B at home; Toti B lost 0-7 against Bluff A away; Toti C lost 2-5 against Northlands A away; Toti D won 3-2 against Westville CC D away; Toti E lost 0-5 against Firwood A at home; and Toti F lost 0-5 against Stella Park D away. Well done to all players who participated and did their best for the club.

Congratulations to Greg McLeod who beat Steve Woor in the final of the men’s handicap singles, and well done to Steve for reaching the final while still a novice. Andy Jones defeated Martin Birch in the novice singles. In the men’s senior singles, George Glaves beat Alan McGregor; Dallas Davis overcame John Hewgill; Lofty van Tonder beat Coy Schrauwen; Colin Spence defeated Leon van Rensburg; and Linden Cooper won over Terry Morgan.

In a close game Robyn Hutton and Heather Cooper beat Pam Chalder-Royle and Jenny Delport in round two of the women’s nominated pairs.

In the women’s 2-4-2, the winners were Robyn Hutton and Carole Glaves. Runners- up were Pam Chalder-Royle and Jean Snyman, and second session was won by Stella Erasmus and Dot Liebetrau. Jacqui Fouche won the 100 board. The men’s trips winners were Glen Scorgie, Peter Callaghan and Ian Mills. In second place were Dallas Davis, Eric Klopper and Terry Morgan; and Duncan Wright, Gustav Somers and Vish Studinski took the second session.

Well done to Doreen Salmond, Marion Crouch, Nita Meumann and Denise Bingham who came second in the Dan Draper tournament, and to Jeannette Els, Stella Erasmus, Marie van der Walt and Dot Liebetrau who came third.

At TGIF Ian McDonald won the 100 board. Social member Ian Scorgie was not present to win the attendance draw, so it is worth R150 this week. The Damagers number came up in the key draw, but sadly for them the key did not turn. This week’s key will be worth R1,250.

Due to Port Natal fixtures the women’s mutton will take place on 30 July with the men. Remember it is Big Chicks on Sunday, 16 July. The women’s drawn pairs semi-final takes place on Saturday, 22 July, and the women’s drawn trips semi-final will be on Sunday, 23 July.

Good health and good bowling is wished to all this week.
