Cricket club builds on inaugural DDCU success by adding another junior team

UCC first team will now play in the challenge league under the KZN Cricket Union.

UMKOMAAS Cricket Club (UCC) is already building on its milestone achievements in its inaugural season under Durban and District Cricket Union (DDCU).

The first season culminated in an awards ceremony at Orissa Hall last week.UCC fielded two junior sides, namely U13 and U15 respectively, together with three senior sides in division one, three and four.

All sides had a successful season with division three winning their league.

UCC has made remarkable strides in promoting the game of cricket in the community and surrounding areas. Following on its recent DDCU success, UCC is proud to announce the introduction of an U11 side in the 2017/2018 season.

This further shows the club’s commitment to developing youth cricket.

UCC has been awarded challenge status.

UCC first team will now play in the challenge league under the KZN Cricket Union, meaning the club can now offer the most talented players the opportunity to play at the highest club level. The club aims to produce a future SA star. UCC is a registered NPO and relies solely on its sponsors to fund the organisation. The club thanks Global Labs, Synapse Logistics, Caledonian Pneumatics and LNY Construction for their contributions towards sustaining and moving the club forward. These local companies make the dreams of many children a reality. UCC also thanks its members who have made a contribution to the club’s success.

UCC plays all its games away in Durban as the club does not have a home ground in Umkomaas. Therefore, it has to transport six teams every weekend and these costs escalate constantly. The club issues an urgent plea to all local businesses and companies to support the organisation. All contributions will receive the numerous benefits of supporting a NPO.

The club hosts a trail day on 29 July, with more details to be released soon. For further information email Umkomaas.cricket@gmail.com, call 039-979-7203 or go to the club’s Facebook page Umkomaas Cricket Club UCC.
