AAC athletes to carbo-load ahead of Comrades

Amanzimtoti Athletics Club will be hosting a pasta party on 1 June at 6.30pm

THE Comrades Marathon hosted by the Comrades Marathon Association will be held on Sunday, 4 June with a 5.30am start time outside Durban City Hall.

In preparation for Comrades 2017, Amanzimtoti Athletics Club (AAC) will enjoy a pasta party on Thursday, 1 June at 6.30pm.

Amanzimtoti Athletics Club runners who will be taking part in the Comrades Marathon on Sunday, 4 June.

Some 41 athletes participated in time trials on Wednesday, 24 May, where the following results were recorded:

4km walk: J Duvenhage 33.18, L Gumede 36.45, T Harris-Dewey 38.35, Z Humphreys 38.35, A Harris-Dewey 38.35, A Kretzmann 38.59, B Wagner 38.59, S Coulter 38.59.

4km run: P Mngadi 18.33, T Dlamini 18.33, T Gumede 18.33, D Swart 18.39, B Mutanga 20.47, S Lindeque 21.33, C Nel 21.36, B Luckfiel 21.41, S Msomi 21.41, S Gumede 23.28, C Clarke 24.20, E Luckfiel 24.35, N du Toit 24.41, C Botha 26.08, N James 26.11, C Clarisse 26.15, B Eder 26.35, B Hamilton 28.00, A Myeza 28.53, J Kruger 30.00, K Liebenberg 30.00, M Hagan 30.59.

8km run: S Sibangu 31.57, R Hamilton 35.19, R Mkhize 35.40, E Grobler 37.11, E Luiz 37.38, V Mngadi 42.47, N Saville 44.58, R Sayer 45.00, S Silanqwe 45.08, W Gibson 50.46, L Joone 50.50.

Reflective belts are mandatory for weekly time trials, which are on Wednesday at 5.30pm for walkers and 6pm for runners (both over 4km and 8km). Visitors are welcome to join and can meet at the Hutchison Park clubhouse. On Saturdays there is an 11km run and walk from the clubhouse at 5.30am for walkers and 6am for runners.
