Amanzimtoti brothers to grapple with UAE world champs jiu jitsu qualifier

The next MFC tournament is scheduled for Sunday, 4 June.

Having won their divisions in the national Brazilian jiu jitsu grappling championships in New Germany recently, fighters Dylan (16) and Bradley Swanepoel (18) of CombatCoaching.com are bound for Abu Dhabi in the UAE on Sunday, 11 June, where they will compete in a qualifier for the world championships.

The New Germany leg of the championships featured around 150 fighters from across the country, competing in five divisions.

They then competed in the adult division, where Dylan won the under 60kg division and Bradley the under 65kg division.

Dylan also competed in Bradley’s adult division and was runner-up to his brother.

“They started preparing in February and also trained with other fighters competing in the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) and Megaledon Fighting Club (MFC) in Durban. For the last eight weeks, they both followed a strict fighters’ diet,” said their coach and father Morné Swanepoel.

The next MFC tournament is scheduled for Sunday, 4 June and will see CombatCoaching.com’s Team MMA fighters Justin Groenewald, Tash Santillal and Cheyne Booysen compete in this high-level MMA tournament.

A year has lapsed since the last EFC championships and this popular event returns to Sibaya Casino on Saturday, 10 June with Team MMA fighter Thabani ‘the doctor’ Mdebele representing coach Swanepoel’s team.
