Gopi takes over coaching of Isipingo Legends

His passion and dedication to the sport has held him in high esteem in football circles.

Legendary soccer star Gopi Naidoo has taken over the coaching reins at Isipingo Legends.

Well respected and regarded in soccer circles, Naidoo comes with a wealth of experience having had stints with Verulam Suburbs, Aces United and Manning Rangers in his heyday.

“His expert knowledge of the game can only make the team grow from strength to strength in a highly competitive football environment,” said assistant manager, Bull Govender.

“Having recently retired from teaching after 40 years, his contribution to development football has enhanced the skills of youngsters to meet the demands to reach the very top.

His passion and dedication to the sport has held him in high esteem in football circles.

Management are thrilled to have a person of his high calibre whose ambition and vision is to take Isipingo Legends to greater heights.”

Crowned team of the tournament at a recent KZN Golden Oldies tournament in Phoenix, the local legends are eagerly awaiting their fist league encounter in the KZN oldies over 50 league.

“The team was impressive in the tournament, but there is room for improvement in all departments,” said new coach Naidoo. “Up to the start of the league, we will focus on improving the level of fitness of all the players.”

The team is excited to be part of the KZN Oldies league.

Isipingo legends will play their home league fixtures at Orient Park sports grounds and fixtures will be released on its Facebook page ‘Isipingo Soccer Legends’.

The league kicked off on Saturday, 8 April. On Saturday, 22 April, Isipingo face Chatsworth at 2.30pm at Twini Park.
