AMANZIMTOTI Athletics Club reports that the Maritzburg City Marathon held on 26 February was also the club championships.

42.2km run: 35 male runner category: First Ewoud Grobler (third overall) 2.42.58, second Jabulani Shishoni (26th overall) 3.02.21, third Nkosinathi Khathi (98 overall) 3.27.11.

40 male runner category: First Xolani Nocanda (43rd overall) 3:16.46, second Thobani Mntungwa (121 overall) 3.37.29, third Mandlakhe Mhlongo (131 overall) 3.40.09.

50 male runner category: First Chris Stanger (sixth overall) 3.31.24, second Edmund Luiz (43rd overall) 3.53.32, third Kenneth Gasa (74th overall) 4.09.56.

Reflective belts are mandatory for time trials.

Weekly time trials are on Wednesday at 5.30pm for walkers and 6pm for runners (both over 4km and 8km). Visitors are always welcome to join and should meet at the clubhouse at Hutchison Park. On Saturdays there is an 11km run and walk from the clubhouse at 5.30am for walkers and 6am for runners.

Entries open for Dick King half marathon

ENTRIES are open for the Dick King half marathon and 15km walk which is set to take place on Sunday, 16 April at 6am.

The start and finish will be at Amanzimtoti main beach. Enter online at www.eventtiming.co.za before the entry deadline of midnight on Thursday, 13 April. Manual entries will be accepted on 15 April at Amanzimtoti main beach with cash is the only form of payment accepted. Entry fees are R150 for the 21.1km event, R120 for the 15km walk and a temporary license costs R30.

Upcoming races:

• The Umgeni Water Marathon 15km walk/run; 32km run and 42.2km run will be held on 12 March at Midmar Dam in Howick, starting at 5.30am;

• Peace in Africa 10km run/walk and 21.1km run will be held at Kings Park Athletics Stadium on 12 March at 6.30am.
