Meyer scored on a steal of home and Miller scored on an RBI single by Craig Buchanan.

CARDINALS Baseball Club jumped out to an early lead on Saints and captured a 20-5 victory on Sunday at Hoy Park.

Eleven runs in the first three innings allowed Toti-based Cardinals to put the game away early.

Coetzee went a perfect 5-5 at the plate for the Cardinals. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the first, second, third, and fifth innings.

Brett Fields got a hit in each of his three at bats. He singled in the first, second, and fourth innings.

Coetzee got the win for the Cardinals despite allowing five runs over five innings. He struck out seven, walked three and surrendered nine hits.

Russel Haygarth took the loss for Saints. He allowed eight runs in two innings, walked none and struck out three.

The top of the first saw Saints take an early lead, 3-0.

Saints’ threat began with a single by Fields. A single by Blaine Meyer then moved Fields from first to second. Damian Miller singled, scoring Fields. Saints then tacked on more runs when Meyer scored on a steal of home and Miller scored on an RBI single by Craig Buchanan.

Cardinals scored three runs of their own in the third. The Cardinals scored on a two-run single by Dempsey and an RBI single by Craig Longworth.

This was a great win for Cardinals promo side after getting hammered by Super King the previous week. The team seemed to gel, errors were kept to a minimum and the bats were working for a change. The coach remained on the side line, not having to take the field.
