Warren’s endurance pays off in Sani Stagger event

The annual prize-giving takes places on Saturday, 3 December at 9.30am for 10am at the club house where breakfast will be served before the prize-giving starts.

AMANZIMTOTI Athletics Club athletes took part in the Sani Stagger endurance race last weekend in Underberg. The 42.2km marathon starts on the Sani Pass Hotel golf course and is run to the top of Sani Pass at the Lesotho border and back again, finishing on the golf course.

The course is tough and run along rocky terrain and uneven in places, which provides a challenge of its own.

42.2km: 1st Toti runner home Warren Gibson, 20th overall and fifth in his age category 35-39, time 4:24:20; Chris Stange 21st overall and first in his age category 50-59, time 4.24.40; Marco Coetsee 5:40, Jodine Momberg 5.57.

21km: Raymond Hair 2.23.41. Congratulations to all who took part.

4 December BMG Stainbank Cup Yellowwood Park Sports Club 15km run and 10km walk race starts at 6am; 11 December Illovo Sugar 15km Christmas Challenge 15km run/walk at Westville Athletic Club, starts at 6am.

Weekly time trials are on Wednesdays at 5.30am for walkers and 6pm for runners (both over 4km and 8km). Visitors are welcome to join and should meet at the clubhouse at Hutchison Park. On Saturdays there is an 11km run and walk from the clubhouse at 5.30am for walkers and 6am for runners. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served afterwards.
