Feared fifths return to winning ways

Simplex went in to bat first on the ‘Toti Cabbage patch.

AMANZIMTOTI Cricket Club’s fifth side played against the Simplex fourth team on Saturday, with rain spoiling Sunday’s planned fixtures.

Toti was able to correct its shortfalls from the previous weekend, and this side is back to its winning ways.

Simplex went in to bat first on the Toti cabbage patch. They battled along, but could only manage 89 runs all out in the 21 overs they faced. Marc Sheppard took three for 16 runs in his spell and next best was Warren Jordan with two for eight in his three overs.

Toti accumulated runs quickly, and passed the required total in the 12th over for the loss of just four wickets. Top scorer was Marcel Chard on 37 not out, with some good support in the form of Clint Fraser on 19.

It was an impressive six wicket victory in quick time from the ‘feared fifths’.
