Good placings for AAC athletes at KZN champs

LAST Sunday saw very few Amanzimtoti Athletics Club runners taking part in the KZN champs.

The overcast and cool weather was enjoyed by runners and walkers.

There were some good times and category positions taken by both runners and walkers.

10km run: T Pletinckx 37:21 (3rd in 50-59 category), C Stange 40:46 (9th in 45-49 category), M Kapp 50:40, M Yokwe 50:43, A Payne 54:55.

10km walk: I Bohmer 71:50 (2nd woman and 6th overall), D van der Merwe 71:56, (fifth male and seventh overall) S van der Merwe 75:59 (4th woman and 9th overall), A Kretzmann 81:13, P Yelseth 85:57, J Williams 90:08, B Wagner 90:08, J Rees 93:12, B Stange 94:00, T Poultney 94:03. Well done to all who took part.

Upcoming races

6 November – Checkout Challenge at Kings Park Athletic Stadium, 21km run/walk and 10km run/walk starts at 6.30am.

11 November – Amanzimtoti night trail run (4km or 8km) takes place on the cricket oval at Lords and Legends starting at 6pm. Headlamps and torches are compulsory. Join in the fun for the whole family. Enter online or late entries will be taken on the day from 4.30pm.

Pre-entries close on 10 November. Adults pre-paid R80 for the 8km and R40 for the 4km; U16 pre-paid R60 for 8km and R30 for 4km. Race day entries cost R20 extra.

13 November – Bluff Vets 42.2km run, starts at 5.30am and 21.1km run and 15km walk starts at 6am.

20 November – Mineshaft Queensburgh Harriers 15km run/walk starts at 6am.

The club walkers championship over 21km will take place on 6 November at the Checkout Challenge at Kings Park Athletic Stadium, starting at 6.30am.

Note that reflective belts are mandatory for time trials.

Weekly time trials are on Wednesdays with walkers starting at 5.30pm and runners at 6pm (both over 4km and 8km). Visitors are welcome to join and should meet at the clubhouse at Hutchison Park. On Saturdays there is an 11km run and walk from the clubhouse at 5.30am for walkers and 6am for runners. Refreshments are served afterwards.
