Winkle SLC nippers defy the weather

On the more serious side of things duty members to note that the committee is aware that the weather is not the best at the moment but duties still continue.

WHILE the rain is very welcome, the rain over the past few weeks has certainly caused havoc with training at Winklespruit Surf Lifesaving Club but the nippers especially have braved the conditions and had some good sessions involving a lot of running.

Do not worry – your time in the sea will come as the weather settles.

On the competition front, Jenna Nel attended the recent nipper carnival in Durban and came second in the girls board race. This past weekend Brittany Luther competed at the junior/senior carnival at Pirates. Well done girls. There are a further two nipper carnivals in Durban this month and training will take place in Durban on those days. Parents are urged to keep a close watch on notices on the Whatsapp group.

Club manager Denzil Van Der Westhuizen and his merry band of helpers have been busy with the inside of the club, which is looking stunning. A calendar of events is available at the club for both competitions and social activities, which parents are asked to make a note of. The bingo went off well with Mark ‘I love to talk’ Barber taking control and Calvin ‘I will just pop in to the club for five minutes and win the bucks’ Stott participating.

On the more serious side of things, duty members should note that the committee is aware that the weather is not the best at the moment but duties still continue. Club treasurer Fran ‘I am after you’ Techet has been away and will be back by the time this article is published. Rumour has it that her hunting outfit is ready and she will be after those members who have not yet paid subs. Be afraid, very afraid – members, pay your subs as soon as you can as these are now due.

See you on beach (hopefully with a bit of sunshine).
