Mixed 2-4-2 is on Friday, 23 September and Mutton on Sunday, 25 September.

TWO Amanzimtoti Bowling Club (ABC) women’s pairs teams have gone through to the quarter finals of the Port Natal pairs.

They are Julie Sutherland and Amanda Ninow, as well as Elmarie Young and Maureen Griffin.

This is a wonderful achievement, and the club wishes them good bowling and hopes they can continue to keep the flag flying for the club.

Well done to Doreen Salmond and Jean Snyman who beat Nita Meumann and Karen Shepherd in the final of the women’s nominated pairs. Greg McLeod and Doug Joubert defeated John Hewgill and Mike Roberts to go through to the final of the men’s nominated pairs.

ABC’s annual general meeting takes place on Saturday, 24 September. Voting starts at noon and is open for an hour, so be prompt. Winners and runners-up of honours board competitions are to wear official club red shirts. Everyone is asked to take a plate of snacks for afterwards.

In the men’s monthly 2-4-2, Vince Marriott and Eric Klopper were the winners. Ian Crouch and Lofty van Tonder were runners-up and Coy Schrauwen and Gustav Somers won the second session.

At TGIF the 100 board was won by Brian Crause. Shirley-Ann Joubert’s member number was drawn but unfortunately she was not in attendance, so missed out on the prize, which goes up next week to R400. George Glaves won R100 on his key, but it was not the winning key for the big prize. The draw next week will be worth R6,290.

There were three club members of the month for September. They are Vera Broskie, Brian Crause and Talla Stephens-Viviers who have worked so hard in organising players and dates for competitions in order to get everything completed for the AGM.

Mixed 2-4-2 is on Friday, 23 September and mutton on Sunday, 25 September. Many happy returns go this week to Brian Diener, Margaret van Belkum, Joe Tetluk, Innocent Sithole and Johan van der Westhuizen. Wishing all members the best of health.
