DESPITE rain interruptions at the weekend, several honours board competitions were completed at Amanzimtoti Bowling Club (ABC), including the semi-finals.

In the men’s senior singles semis, Greg McLeod beat Phil Perkins and Ian Crouch had a good win over Alan McGregor. In the semi-finals of the nominated mixed pairs, Ian and Leonie Mills defeated Dallas Davis and Jeanne Alexander; and Gustav Somers and Tokkie de Kock beat Glen Scorgie and Jackie Holdrick. Good bowling to all in the respective finals.

In the men’s nominated pairs, Greg McLeod and Doug Joubert beat Adie Fuller and Trevor Zulch. Greg is on a winning streak and narrowly defeated Doug Joubert in the men’s handicap singles.

Men’s novices is drawing to an exciting conclusion. Steve Liebetrau, who has won his last game against Greg Veldtman and is unbeaten, is the novice champion. Steve Woor beat Andy Jones and is runner-up. Good bowling to the novices who have still games to play and good luck in next year’s competition. It is worth mentioning that the husband and wife team of Steve and Dot Liebetrau both won their individual novices competitions this year.

In the women’s nominated pairs, Talla and Lesley Stephens-Viviers defeated Denise Bingham and Leonie Mills; Doreen Salmond and Jean Snyman had a one shot win over Lynn Joubert and Michelle Pitchers; and Jeanette Els and Sue Welch beat Marie van der Walt and Maureen Griffin. In the women’s handicap singles, Michelle Pitchers beat Doreen Salmond; Tokkie de Kock defeated Amanda Ninow; and Jeanne Alexander overcame Lynn Joubert.

Maureen Warrior, Jean Snyman and Sylveigh Ananiadis were the winners of the women’s monthly trips; with Nicky Stirzaker, Jackie Holdrick and Talla Stephens-Viviers coming second. Elaine Critchlow, Norma Raath and Trish Farmer won the second session; and Margaret van Belkum won the 100 board.

The men’s 2-4-2 was won by Coy Schrauwen and Gustav Somers; and the runners-up were Ian Mills and Alec Stirzaker; Colin Coetzee and Dave Kemp won the second session.

At TGIF, Les Brown won the 100 board. Fred Welch missed out on the attendance draw, so next week’s draw is worth R200. Jane Coetzee sadly did not have the correct key for the money, so next week’s key will be worth R4,040. Good bowling to all who are playing in the mixed fours festival at the weekend.

Happy birthday wishes this week go to Barry Bush, Annatjie Boag, Cliffie Hole, Lee Madson, Paul Els, Dennis Hughes, Ernst Ubleis and Martin Birch. Good health is wished to all members.
