Elaine, Barbara win women’s drawn pairs

The club thanks members who sacrificed their time to assist in green maintenance on Monday, 15 August.

WINKLESPRUIT Bowling Club’s Di Kruger won the first round of the women’s senior singles against Trish Farmer, and Annalie Pienaar beat Lulu Bingham.

In the women’s drawn pairs final, Elaine Critchlow and Barbara Cuthill were the winners with Lulu Bingham and Sandy Snyman runners-up. Mike Kruger won the men’s senior singles final with Allan Duncan being runner-up. It was a very close game with the final score being one point difference.

Estelle Van Der Merwe and Di Kruger beat Trish Farmer and Sylveigh Ananiadis in the first round of the women’s nominated 2-4-2.

Winners of the final round of the men’s drawn 2-4-2 were Freddy Hetterscheidt and Brian Pasfield with Brian Farmer and Dries Snyman being runners-up. Overall winners of the women’s twinkle Kwik Spar trips played on Wednesday, 10 August were Elaine Critchlow, Estelle Van Der Merwe and Bessie Vergottini. Second session winners were Hazel Willis, Joyce Mackrory and Honey Behr. Elaine Critchlow won the 100 board with Heather Brown winning the spider. Mike Kruger, John Scott and Brian Pasfield won the men’s Kwik Spar trips with Denny Denysschen, Paul Els and Herman Van Zyl being the second session winners. The 100 board was won by Gerald Chalder-Royle. Alan Raubenheimer and Annalie Pienaar were the victors over Mac and Joyce Mackrory in the second round of the mixed nominated pairs.

The attendance draw was won by Steve Evenwel on Friday evening. As he was not present, it will be a carry over.

Friday evening’s meal was a success and was well attended. Members of the club thank Allan and Beth Duncan for the delicious meal they sponsored. Elmarie made the mouthwatering pudding which as usual was enjoyed by all.

The annual Bools day competition was well attended and thoroughly enjoyed.

Overall winners of the Steve Evenwel monthly 2-4-2 was Duncan and Yvonne Wright. Mike and Di Kruger won the first session with Dries and Sandy being winners of the second session. Most touches was won by Mike Kruger. Eddie Matthews won the 100 board. Winkle Bowling Club thanks Steve Evenwel for sponsoring this monthly competition over the past couple of years.

Social bowls will be played on Wednesday and Friday afternoon, with the starting time being 1.45pm for 2pm.

A meal will be available on Friday evening. Indicate before Friday for catering reasons, on the list on the board, if you will be partaking in the meal.

There will be a friendly competition between Winkle and Chatsworth Bowling Clubs on Saturday, 20 August at Winkle BC. The competition commences at 9am.

Be reminded of the monthly men’s 2-4-2 which is to be played on Thursday, 25 August.

Members must take note of club competitions on the competition board and the notification of the subs due for 2017 on the notice board.

The AGM will be held on 27 August at 9am. A nominations list for the AGM is on the notice board. Take along a plate of snacks.
