Eight try romp seals Murray Cup quarters berth for Toti

Outstanding performers on the day were Kevin Buck among the forwards, and the electric Leroux van Zyl at outside centre.

THE Amanzimtoti Rugby Club first team progressed to the quarter final of the Castle Murray Cup knockout competition with a convincing 50-0 win over first division champions, Richards Bay on Saturday, 23 July.

It was a completely dominant display by the Toti team, with their impressive forward pack laying the platform for the eight-try romp over the men from Zululand.

Outstanding performers on the day were Kevin Buck among the forwards, and the electric Leroux van Zyl at outside centre. It was, however, Toti scrumhalf Matthew McDonald who was awarded the overall Castle Lager man of match award by the match adjudicators in acknowledgement of his busy performance at the base of the scrum.

Toti now goes on to face Photonote Durban Crusaders in the quarters, with the match taking place on Saturday, 30 July at Hutchison Park. Kick-off for the match is scheduled for 3pm. The team would like the usual big crowd in support as they launch their quest to regain the trophy they won in 2014.
