Lulu is Winklespruit women’s singles champ

Overall winners for the Saturday Clearwater Spur mixed 2-4-2 were Brian Farmer and Sylveigh Ananiadis.

OVERALL winners of the women’s Caltex Warner Beach trips played on Wednesday, 13 July were Cathy Du Plooy, Maureen Griffin and Sandy Snyman. Second session winners were Lulu Bingham, Sylveigh Ananiadis and Linda Hobbs.

Maureen Griffin was the winner of the 100 board and Nita Meumann won the spider. The mystery prize was won by Sue Welch.

Gerald Chalder-Royle, Ken Leech and Ben Venter were overall winners in the men’s Kwik Spar trips played on Thursday, 14 July. Second session winners were Jeff van Belkum, Andy Soden and Kokkie De Kock. Herbie Hofmann won the 100 board.

The women’s Champion of Champions singles competition was played between Lulu Bingham and Sylveigh Ananiadis on Friday, 15 July, with Lulu being the winner and Sylveigh the runner-up for 2016.

The attendance draw was won by Trebor Vosloo on Friday evening. As he was not present, it will be a carry over. Trish Farmer won the 100 board bottle of champagne.

The curry and rice was enjoyed by all present on Friday evening, with sufficient left over for the more hungry members. The club thanks Beth Duncan for the apple pie and ice cream so generously donated.

There will be no mixed trips on Sunday, 24 July, but instead there will be a more casual family fun day which will not be played in the normal format. It will be a mixed (man/woman) competition for bowlers and non-bowlers. Dress will be casual wear (mufti) with smooth, flat-soled shoes. Prizes will be awarded to overall and second session winners. There will be a bring and braai after the game. Pap and gravy will be provided. Cost per player will be R20 (includes pap and gravy) and R10 for non-players which includes tea or coffee, pap and gravy.

There will be social bowls on Wednesday and Friday afternoon.

A meal will be available on Friday evening. Indicate on the list on the board if you will be there for the meal, for catering reasons.

Winter starting time for Wednesday and Friday social bowls is 1.45pm for 2pm.

Members must take note of club competitions on the competition board and the notification of the subs for 2017 on the notice board.

Congratulations to everyone celebrating their birthdays during the week and a speedy recovery to all who are not well. Prayers and thoughts are with everyone.
