WSLC notes paddlers’ great performances

Friday night saw the Toti second team practise at Winkle Beach and then enjoy the Sharks rugby game with bunnies supplied by team manager Mike Techet.

ONCE again Winklespruit Surf Lifesaving Club reports back on some great paddling performances at the ski race in Durban last Sunday.

Gene Prato, second in the men’s elite race, and Jenna Nel, first woman (she is still a nipper) home in the short course race, were the star performers. The full contingent of eight Winkle paddlers enjoyed the course which took them out to sea and across the harbour entrance towards the Bluff and back. Once again members of this group were in the lucky draw prizes, so an enjoyable day was had by all.

Friday night saw the Toti second team practise at Winkle Beach and then enjoy the Sharks rugby game with bunnies supplied by team manager Mike Techet. Rumour has it that the bunnies were enjoyed a lot more than the Sharks rugby game.

On a sad note, the club learnt of the death of Garth Loser who was a past member of Winklespruit Surf Lifesaving Club. Older members will remember the good times that were enjoyed with Garth.

Last Sunday the duty squad under the leadership of Slater Rudling performed a good duty on a miserable day and it was pleasing to note that squad members have started doing some exercise – summer is coming.

See you on the beach.
