Close game for Elaine, Annalie

ALLAN Duncan beat Eddie Bingham in the second round of the men’s senior singles at Winklespruit Bowling Club.

In the second round of the women’s singles championship, Elaine Crithlow was victorious over Annalie Pienaar who played a good game.

It was a very close game. Eddie Bingham and Dries Snyman were the winners over Adrian Morrison and Freddie Hetterscheidt in the men’s nominated 2-4-2. In the men’s senior singles Mike Kruger was the victor over Brian Bodley.

The seventh round of the men’s interclub league was played against Amanzimtoti on Saturday, 18 June. In the third round of the women’s interclub league, the Winklespruit women’s league team won the bonus point against Hillcrest. The eighth round of the men’s interclub league will be played at Hillary Bowling Club against Hillary on Saturday, 25 June and the ninth and final round will be played against Westville at Winklespruit BC on Sunday morning.

On Friday evening everyone enjoyed a delicious meal sponsored and prepared by Stephanie and Corrie Delport. Reg and Honey Behr sponsored the rice and the banana loaf enjoyed at tea time. The scrumptious pudding was donated by John and Clasina Powell. The club wishes the Powells a safe journey to Mozambique.

Bowlers are to note that the monthly trips and braai has been cancelled on 26 June, due to the final round of the men’s interclub league being played at Winklespruit BC.

The monthly boot sale will take place on Saturday, 25 June. There will be social bowls on Wednesday and Friday afternoons, with the winter starting time applying at 1.45pm for 2pm.

Members must take note of club competitions on the competition board.

Congratulations to everyone celebrating their birthdays during the week and a speedy recovery to all those who are not well. Prayers and thoughts are with everyone.
