IN a very close ‘winners’ circle’ finale of scroungers, Dave Kemp just managed to beat Greg McLeod to first place at Amanzimtoti Bowling Club last week.

The final game only lasted six ends, and Dave and Greg peeled on ends three, four and five, with Dave winning the final end to win the game. Glen Scorgie came third, Neville Roscoe won plate A and Heather Brown won plate B.

In men’s nominated pairs round one, Ian Crouch and Ian Mills beat Ray Robinson and Coy Schrauwen, Adie Fuller and Trevor Zulch beat Rob Troughton and Neville Roscoe, Ken Leech and Keith Berry beat Lofty van Tonder and Barry Bush, and newcomers Paul Davies and Steve Woor lost to Greg McLeod and Doug Joubert.

The winners of women’s 2-4-2 were Jean Snyman and Maureen van der Poel, with Heather Brown and Dot Liebetrau runners-up. Barbara Beamson and Cathy du Plooy won second session and Nita Meumann won the 100 board.

In men’s PN league first division, Toti A versus Umhlali CC drew 3.5-3.5; second division Toti B versus Parkhill A lost 1-6; third division Toti C versus Durban D won 4-3; fifth division Toti D versus Hillary C lost 0-5; seventh division Toti E versus Wentworth B won 3-2; seventh division Toti F versus Lahee Park lost 1-4.

In women’s PN league first division, Toti A versus Lahee Park A won 5-0. Third division Toti B versus Hillcrest B lost 2-3. Fourth division Toti C versus Sherwood A lost 2-3. Seventh division Toti D versus Hillary B won 5-0.

At TGIF Paul Jamieson’s tab came out in the attendance draw but as he was not present the pot rises to R450 next time. The Damagers won the 100 board and in the key game, Lynn Joubert drew a key that won her R100 but not the jackpot, so that amount will rise to R8,940 next week.

Big Chicks will be on Sunday, 19 June and skips are to ensure they have full teams before the day. The closing date for entries for women’s nominated pairs and handicaps is Friday, 17 June and for men’s senior singles, it is Sunday, 19 June.

Birthday greetings go to Des Sole, Wilma Richter, Sean Roberts, Greg Veldtman and Pam Chalder-Royle, and get-well wishes to all who are not well.
