ALL Comrades runners are reminded that the Amanzimtoti Athletics Club Comrades photo will be taken on Saturday, 21 May at 8am.
Take along your vest and black shorts.
With less than two weeks to go until the start of the 2016 down run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban, all runners should be tapering and resting their legs for the big day.
The Comrades expo takes place from 26 to 28 May. Doors open from 9am to 7pm. Runners need to take ID and a champion chip to registration.
The pasta evening will take place at the clubhouse on Friday, 27 May starting at 5pm. Guest speaker will be a former gold medalist Devilliers Oberholzer who will share some tips and advice. Macaroni cheese and chicken pasta will be served with salad. Tickets costing R50 can only be bought on Wednesday 11, 18 and 25 May at the clubhouse from 6pm to 7pm or call Jodine on 082-450-0683 or jodinemomberg@gmailcom. All are welcome as this is not a member’s only event. A cash bar will be available.
The club has organised a luxury bus one way only, leaving the club at 3.30am sharp on Comrades day. The cost is R120 the seats are going fast with only a couple still available. Call Thobikile on 076-474-0342.

This past weekend the club hosted a 5/10km trial run for selection of the Youth Run taking place on 28 May at Moses Mabhida Stadium. Special thanks to the faithful few who set up on Friday and assisted – it was much appreciated. The department of sport thanks the club for all the support received.
Well done to Alan Payne for his second half marathon in St Lucia in a time of 2.31. Bev Payne did the 10km run in 1.25 and in the 10km walk, Cecilia Brown finished in a time of 1.32.

Note that reflective belts are mandatory for time trials.
Weekly time trials are on Wednesdays, with walkers starting at 5.30pm and the runners at 6pm (both over 4km and 8km). Visitors are always welcome to join and should meet at the clubhouse at Hutchison Park. On Saturdays, the 11km run and walk starts from the clubhouse at 5.30am for walkers and 6am for runners. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served afterwards. Visitors are welcome to join in and keep fit.
