ABC’s Doreen through to PN senior semis

Players are still needed for the Easter fives and the Brad Cox mixed singles - why not put your names down for these fun competitions?

CONGRATULATIONS to Amanzimtoti Bowling Club’s (ABC) Doreen Salmond, who won through to the Port Natal senior singles semi-finals, and well done to all the club’s players who entered this tough competition.

ABC is proud to host the semis and final of both the women’s and men’s games on Sunday, 20 March from 9am. Go along to support Doreen and watch some top class bowls. The club hosted some of the men’s PN senior singles at the weekend. Well done to tournament official Ian Crouch with Brian Crause and helpers and the team of markers, as well as bar and kitchen staff. Special thanks to Hettie van Niekerk who umpired the whole day in the heat.

Doreen Salmond, Barbara Beamson, Jeanne Alexander and Tokkie de Kock were part of the Port Natal squad who won the KZN quadrangular competition in Margate last week against Kingfisher, Inland and Country districts. Both the PN women’s and men’s squads won, well done.

Good bowling to the women who were due to play in the midweek league, starting on Wednesday, 16 March. Also good bowling is wished for those playing in the Underberg Fives at the weekend.

In the club open singles, Barbara Beamson had a good win over Pam Chalder-Royle; and Barry Buckland defeated Rob Troughton.

At TGIF, Glen Scorgie won the 100 board. Phil Perkins’ tab was drawn for the attendance draw, but as he was not present, this will be worth R800 next week. In the key draw, Neville Roscoe’s number was drawn. In his absence Tokkie de Kock attempted to choose the winning key for him, but sadly no luck. Next week’s key will be worth R1,820.

Players are still needed for the Easter fives and the Brad Cox mixed singles – why not put your names down for these fun competitions? Remember there will be no Big Chicks or social bowls on Sunday because of the Port Natal finals.

Birthday wishes are sent this week to Kathy Cox, Pete Shepard and Brenda Mulligan. To all those who are ill right now, a speedy get well is sent.
