Sixteen teams put their boot in at Orient Hills sports festival

This is one of the many projects that the department has planned for Isipingo and surrounding districts.

THIS past weekend, the Department of Sports and Recreation together with the Isipingo District Football Association (IDFA) hosted the Orient Hills Sports Festival for all junior soccer teams in and around Isipingo.

There were 16 junior teams that took part in the festival, eight in the U13 and eight teams in the U15 category.

This is one of the many projects that the department has planned for Isipingo and surrounding districts. Among some of the dignatories present were the department’s Prem Vayapuri, Dino Shunmugam and ANC activists Sunil Bridgemohan and Ashwin Mahipath.

All the children were treated to fried chicken and soft drinks sponsored by the department.

Tensions were high as teams battled it out on the soccer field in the U13 category for girls.

Chillers FC came out second and were beaten by Charmers FC by two goals to one. In the U15 category, Westmount FC were beaten by Rangers FC and the score was also two goals to one.
