Chanelle stacks up amid tough surf competition

Botha took control of the heat, scoring an excellent eight point ride to overcome all three girls and move into the final ahead of Pallet.

WARNER Beach surfer Chanelle Botha put on the contest vest in the open women’s division in the Women Summer Surf Challenge at Bay of Plenty, Chanelle came into the event seeded 8th and surfed her way through the quarter finals to match up in a stacked semi final against former world champion Heather Clark who was the top seed for the event, close friend and U20 SA champion Nicole Pallet and fellow SA team member, Teal Hogg.

Botha took control of the heat, scoring an excellent eight point ride to overcome all three girls and move into the final ahead of Pallet.

After the spray had settled in an exciting final, Chanelle Botha had to settle for an impressive 4th place behind winner Nicole Pallet, Faye Zoetmulder of Seal Point and Tanika Hoffman of Kommetjie.

This was a great achievement as Chanelle was the only junior in the final.

Botha will be in action again this coming weekend at the Ugu district trial to be held on the Lower South Coast.
