Winkle bowlers switched on for night bowls

Take note that the starting time for Wednesday and Friday social bowls is 2.15pm for 2.30pm, until further notice.

THE Winklespruit Bowling Club senior men’s competition started on Wednesday, 17 February, between Brian Bodley and Steve Evenwel.

The winner was Brian Bodley.

Well bowled Brian. Just a reminder to all Winklespruit Bowling Club members who are playing in the competitions – pay your competition fees to the club.

Mike Joyce won the attendance draw on Friday, 19 February. Due to him not being present, the attendance draw will carry over. After social bowls, John and Clasina surprised the club by supplying fresh barracuda fish cakes. This delicious treat was enjoyed by all. Thank you guys.

The Clearwater mixed pairs 2-4-2 was played on Saturday, 20 February. Overall winners were Brian Bodley and Elaine Critchlow. First session winners were Andre Gelderblom and Norma Raath. Second session was won by Cedric Kruger and Annalie Pienaar. The 100 board winner was Piet Du Toit.

Night bowls will be played on Friday, 26 February. Tabs in by 5pm. All bowlers and non-bowlers are welcome. Cost for the game is R10 for members and R15 for non-members. There will be a meal available at a slight cost. The list is on the notice board, indicate if you wish to play.

Great fun is always had at this competition. Note there will be no social bowls on Friday, 26 February.

The monthly car boot sale will take place on Saturday, 27 February starting at 8am. To book a table, phone Sandy Elliot on 082-466-6480 or Gwen Ellis on 084-626-9593. For the hungry, there will be wors rolls and pancakes available, and the bar will be open.

Scroungers will be played on Saturday, 5 March at 8.30am for 9am. The competition can only accommodate 18 bowlers, so put your names on the list on the notice board to ensure that you are included in this fun game.

The mixed trips which was scheduled to be played on 28 February, has now been cancelled.

Elaine Critchlow, Norma Raath and Sylveigh Ananiadis played in the Port Natal women’s trips on Sunday, 21 February at Stella Park. Two games were lost and one was won.

Congratulations to everyone celebrating their birthdays during the week and a speedy recovery to all those who are not well – especially to Maggie Cormack. May her recovery be a short but restful one. She and her family are in everyone’s thoughts.
