Toti cyclists swell memorial ride numbers

A very, very big thank you must go out to all the Toti Cycling Club members that made the effort to ride and support this tribute.

AMANZIMTOTI Cycling Club reports that the SA road championships took place in Westville this weekend and although Toti didn’t get any podium finishes, the experience was well worth it.

Congrats to the following: Elite men (170km): First Jaco Venter (Dimension Data) 3.58.35, second Reinardt Janse van Rensburg (Dimension Data) 3.59.02, third Clint Hendricks (Roadcover) 3.59.02.

Elite women: First An-Li Kachelhoffer (Lotto-Soudol women) 3.26.50, second Lise Olivier (Time Freight eTeam) 3.26.57, third Anriette Schoeman (Africa Silks) 3.27.02.

The memorial ride for Richard da Silva and Jared Dwyer was just incredible. To see how many cyclists made the effort to pay tribute to the two of them, was memorable. The club only prays that this kind of senseless loss does not occur again and that the newly formed Ethekwini Cycle Safe Forum keeps the momentum going. Their main objective is to create a safer environment for this beloved sport and that the roads can be shared equally and peacefully by cyclists and motorists.

A very, very big thank you must go out to all the Toti Cycling Club members who made the effort to ride and support this tribute.

The Mambas were again out and about at different locations. Some braved the Wartburg Classic under extreme hot conditions, while others enjoyed a local ride around Illovo. Then there were others who sneaked off to Drakensberg to enjoy our country’s beauty.
