South Coast nippers hold their own at champs

Warnadoone team of Kai Coetzee, Kyle Pottinger, Axle Franklin and Cameron Dickason got third place in U9 and U10, mixed beach relay.

THE 2016 KZN nipper champs were held in Durban the past weekend.

A strong side wash and shore break tested the nipper competitors between the ages of 8 and 14, but the brave competitors from the South Coast did their clubs proud against the mega clubs from Durban.

Overall finish with Scottburgh Surf Lifesaving in fourth place, Warnadoone Surf fifth and Winklespruit in sixth place.

Individual nipper overall: U10 male Dylan Barber (Winklespruit).

U12 boys: First Caleb Daley (Scottburgh).

Second overall Kai Coetzee of Warnadoone: First body board, second beach flags, third surf swim, third run swim run, third board.

Beach run: U11 boys first Kyle Pottinger (Warnadoone); U11 boys third Slade Nuyten (Winklespruit); U12 boys first Caleb Daley (Scottburgh).

Beach sprint: U9 girls second Chelsea Fell (Winklespruit); U9 boys third Keith Ward (Winklespruit); U10 boys second Wade Erwee (Winklespruit); U11 girls first Amber Edwards (Scottburgh); U11 boys first Kyle Pottinger (Warnadoone); U13 girls third Necashje Stoltz (Warnadoone).

Board race: U12 boys first Caleb Daley (Scottburgh).
