Rebels run roughshod over Cardinals

The after game strategy meeting verified that a lack of training was the cause of the poor performance and a commitment to weekday practises was realised.

DYLAN Ebrahim pitched seven strong innings to carry Rebels to a 2-1 win over Toti’s Cardinals Baseball Club promo side on Sunday.

Rebels staved off Cardinals, who were unable to match Rebels down the stretch.

Dale Coetzee scored in the fifth on an error, and still Cardinals couldn’t catch Rebels. Craig Dempsey ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just three innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed two runs. Dale Coetzee finished off on the mound allowing no runs.

The heat of the day was also a contributing factor as many of the players put their hands up for bench. Brian Seach had a good game in right field, making a catch and an out at one. Cardinals had bases loaded on two occasions but could not follow through with the bat when it was needed.

Man of the match went to Willem Kraamwinkel for his catch at centre field and batting one for one.
