Eddie’s crew ace men’s trips final at Winkle BC

The monthly men’s trips were played on Thursday, 27 August. Second session winners were Mike Kruger and Steve Evenwel with a 2+14 score.

SOME serious Winklespruit Bowling Club competitions were played during the week with surprising results.

Congratulations must go to the trio of Eddie Bingham, Harry van Vuuren and Cedric Kruger for winning the men’s trips final.

In the mixed pairs congratulations must go to Elaine Critchlow and Brian Bodley for their win against Brian and Trish Farmer. Annalie Pienaar and Harry van Vuuren had a good win against Eddy and Lulu Bingham, Paul and Jeanette Els achieved a win against Jonty Denysen and Annalie Pienaar.

Eddie and Lulu Bingham were victorious against Andre Gelderblom and Norma Raath. In the women’s pairs, Lulu Bingham and Cathy du Plooy had a close win against Elaine Crichlow and Maureen Griffin. In the men’s pairs Andre Gelderblom and Brian Cox had a good win against Bill Rawlinson and Brian Farmer.

Prize-giving is scheduled for 3 October which means all outstanding games must be completed before 27 September in order for certificates to be printed in time.

The monthly men’s trips were played on Thursday, 27 August. Second session winners were Mike Kruger and Steve Evenwel with a 2+14 score. The overall winners with a score of 4 +17 were Peter Labuschagne and Dave Kemp. The 100 board draw was won by Herbert Hoffman.

On Saturday, 29 August the monthly car boot sale under the auspices of Kingsburgh Lions Club was again a tremendous success. Sales of unwanted goods were beyond expectations. Thank you to Annalie Pienaar and Trish Farmer for making pancakes, Dries Snyman and Brian Farmer for braaing the wors and Sandy Snyman for managing the sales of boerie rolls. Diarise the following: Social bowls on Friday, 4 September at 2pm and Wednesday at 1.30pm. Saturday, 5 September it’s the AGM at 9am. Vote for your 2016 committee members. Remember to take along some snacks. Arrange your club competitions to be played after the AGM.

On Monday, 7 September there is green maintenance at 8am. Wednesday, 9 September it’s Caltex twinkle trips at 9am. Friday, 11 September sees the night game take place at 6pm. Saturday, 12 September it’s club competitions. Check the notice board for the competition draws.

Congratulations to everyone who celebrated their birthdays during the week. For those members who are ill, the club wishes you a speedy recovery. Thoughts and prayers are with everyone.
