At TGIF Margaret van Belkum won the 100 board; Dalene Pretorius was not present, so next week’s attendance draw will be worth R700. Mike Groom picked the ‘unlucky’ key in the draw as it did not fit the box, so next week’s draw is worth R3,690.

The winners of Big Chicks were Peter Labuschagne, Neil Oberholzer, Denny Denysschen and Elsie Walker; the runners-up were Clive Frank, Terry Morgan, Shayne Tocher and Denise Bingham; first session went to Jerry Gertzen, Neville Roscoe, Nita Meumann and Robbie Roberts; the second session was won by Coy Schrauwen, Doug Joubert, Maureen van der Poel and John Allers.

The board was won by Robbie Roberts, Les John and Wessie van der Westhuizen. Thanks as always to sponsors Jerry Gertzen of Orange River Cellars, Gladys Hughes and Brian Pascoe.

Note the next Big Chicks will be on Sunday, 9 August a week earlier than usual. There will be some members playing other competitions that weekend, so it will be appreciated if you get substitutes where necessary. Tick your teams off on the list if you are alright to play that day.

On Friday, 24 July is Kwikspar mixed 2-4-2 and on Sunday, 26 August is mutton. Check if you have carded games this weekend. The club appreciates the contribution made by Tony Darley, who takes the photos of winning teams that are regularly published in this newspaper.

Many happy returns go this week to Bobby Stewart, Jeanette Clarence, Herbie Hoffman and Ian Scorgie. Good health and good bowling are wished to all.
