League golfers swing into action this weekend

There were 34 players playing in the Wednesday IPS competition with Nigel Johnson winning on 41 points with Norbert Dupont coming in second on 40 points and Chris van Oudshoorn coming in third on a count out on 39 points.

THIS weekend Amanzimtoti Golf Club (AGC) is playing league.

The men’s A side take on Royal at Royal, the B side take on Camelot at Papwa and the Allerton side take on Cotswold at Amanzimtoti.

The women play their first league game of the season against Southbroom at Port Shepstone. Good luck to all the league teams.

Sundowner golf on Friday had 17 players taking part with S van der Merwe winning with 23 points and Norbet Dupont coming second on 21 points.

On Saturday the men played fourball alliance highest and lowest score to count. First on 74 points were Gert Vosser, Andre Otto, Ernst Crotts and Wimpy Nel with Peter Wallace, Hans Odendaal, Tony van Niekerk and pivot Tommy McNaughton coming second with 72 points. Nearest the pin on the fourth were Colin Scorer and Gordon Dunlop on the 15th.

The men’s matchplay championships semi finals was played on Saturday morning with the finals in the afternoon. The C division champion is Pete Carstens, B division champion is Patrick Cruikshank and AGC’s 2015 matchplay champion is Calvin van Rensburg. Congratulations to all the winners.

On Saturday the women played fourball alliance surprise with Lynette Roodt, Ina De Boer, Elsune Roode and Jackie Dunlop winning on 83 points and Liz Donald, Jacqui Porrill , Ina de Boer (pivot) and Elsune Roode (pivot) coming second on 79 points. Nearest the pin on the 17th was Lynette Roodt with Elsune Roode managing a two-club on the 15th.

AGC’s young star Elsune Roode has been selected to the KZNLGA B side and will represent KZN in the inter-provincial 72 hole competition in East London this weekend. Good luck to Elsune, Amanzimtoti Country Club is very proud of her.
