Toti juniors end provincial athletics season on top form

ON Saturday, 4 April a group of Toti athletes took part in the Two Oceans 21km and 56km ultra marathon.

This year’s Two Oceans ultra marathon had a route change, due to the devastating fires on Chapman’s Peak.

Runners had to run up Ou Kaapse Weg.

Jolanda Broodryk (ultra) 6.21.31, Catherine Carr (ultra) 5.55.55, Cecil Clarke (ultra) 6.21.31, Laurie Martin (ultra) 6.35.47, Godfrey Mnisi (ultra) 6.51.00, Amy Naidoo (half) 2.33.03, Sandra Odendaal (half) 3.03.44, Russell Warren (ultra) 6.14.12, Thobekile Zama (ultra) 6.32.55, Jayne Wright (ultra) 6.53.39.

A group of Toti athletes will making the trip to Ladysmith to run the 52km Bergville ultra marathon on Saturday, 11 April. This is a great training run for Comrades athletes.

Comrades runners are reminded that the substitution window opened on 1 April. Athletes now need to email Comrades their qualifying time to get their seeding batch. The club joined Run Walk for Life on Easter Sunday for a 32km run from Scottburgh to Amanzimtoti. Thanks to Warren Gibson and the RWFL team for providing the seconding vehicles with Coke and water. The club also thanks Belinda for assisting with seconding on the morning. Conditions were lovely and cool and it was great running along the South Coast back to Amanzimtoti.

The club will be supporting the following races:

Arthur Cresswell Marathon and half marathon on 11 April; Crescent Challenge on 12 April; Chatsworth Freedom Marathon on 19 April; Tronox Marathon in Empangeni on 26 April.

Thanks to the vice chairman Martyn Clark for remarking the 4km and 8km time trial route. The time trails will now end at the new clubhouse. Members are reminded that reflective gear must be worn, and a headlight is recommended as it is dark at that time.

The club thanks chairman Des van der Merwe and all members who helped with the clubhouse for their hard work.
