ATBC looks ahead to weekend’s SA singles tenpin action

Junior’s saw Ryan Hattingh on a plus 54 leading from Guy Saige on plus 30 and JK Rykof on plus 29.5.

THE Amanzimtoti Tenpin Bowling Club (ATBC) leagues have moved into recess owing to the Easter holidays with the arrival of holidaymakers taking precedence at Dolphin Bowl.

Before the closure however, the club saw the delivery and installation of a generator that does away with disruption owing to load shedding activities.

No longer will leagues be affected by power outages and the centre will be able to continue full operations while the power is out.

The situation regarding the leagues is as follows: Monday Taxi Trios sees ‘2 Hookers and a str8 guy’ in the lead from ‘High 5’s’ and ‘Pulse’ in third. High scores recorded by the ‘absentee’ Brian Daventry-Bull of 236 with newcomer Shabba Bhagwandin recording 227. There were no women bowling games of over 200 recently.

Soho league numbers are dropping but quality is still evident as Chalkie White leads the field on plus 23 while Vish Studzinski and Roy Prince both bowled minuses.

Millenium league sees the Soorajlal family in the lead from Rollerball and Pro’s and Con’s in third. Ravin bowled a 216 game with Wayne Cyster not far behind on 213. Debbie bowled a 201 for the women.

Thursday Dolphin Doubles sees a new team Avengers take the lead from P-Cats and Pinky-and-the-Brain in third. Ron McClatchie led the field with a 220 game, Morne de Wet followed up with a 215 and Vish Studzinski achieved 211. It was the women, however, who shone in this league, with Bronwen Elbourne on 224 shadowing Stacey-Lee Hooper on 216 and Tamika Matthew squeaking in with a 201 game.

Junior’s saw Ryan Hattingh on a plus 54 leading from Guy Saige on plus 30 and JK Rykof on plus 29.5.

Phantom league still sees a Holmes in the lead but this is Janice on 1671 from Gus McKay on 1638 and Craig Hooper on 1585.

Staff league has Zander Kumst on 2066 in the lead from Chris ‘Bossie’ Boshoff on 2002.

Two ATBC tournaments were held recently with the monthly meat being annexed by Roy Prince who won both scratch and handicap prizes. Monthly swipe card was won by Suki Studzinski who showed the boys a clean pair of heels to beat Andrew Cyster by 2 pins with Ricky O’Hare a further 43 pins behind.

There is great anticipation as bowlers look forward to this weekend’s SA singles due to be bowled on Saturday and Sunday. The best bowlers in the country are expected and high scores should be achieved. It will be interesting to see whether KZN will be able to perform at the highest level, given its home ground advantage. Spectators are welcome and entrance is free.
