Lulu’s trio win Winkle BC women’s trips

WINKLESPRUIT Bowling Club welcomes new members, Jackie Evenwel and Bruce Campbell.
Numbers at Friday’s social bowls are steadily increasing, thanks to the delicious dinner prepared by Mooi Hawens and served after the bowls.
Non-members are welcome to enjoy a dinner by adding your name on the list posted up on the notice board or by calling Norma Raath on 082-394-6340. Martin Young won the weekly attendance draw and Eddie Bingham won the Warner Beach garage petrol draw on Friday, 6 March.
The monthly Kwik Spar women’s trips were played on Thursday, 5 March. Second session winners were Mardi Dovai, Jacqui Fouche and Val de Kok. The trio of Lulu Bingham, Trish Farmer and Bessie Vergottini won the overall prize. Norma Raath won the 100 board draw, Denise Bingham won the Spider and Christine Darley walked away with the mystery prize.
The monthly Scroungers were played on Saturday morning 7 March and three new champions were crowned. They are Jeanette Els who won the Champion of Champions trophy by outplaying all her male competitors. Alan Raubenheimer won the plate A trophy and Brian Cox won the plate B trophy. Well done to all.
After the bowls Mike Kruger’s 60th birthday was celebrated with a braai. Mike entertained all with his Pavarotti impression of the song Pampoen. On Sunday, 8 March, the inaugural Steve Evenwel sponsored mixed 2-4-2 was played. Second session winners were Elaine Critchlow and Brian Bodley. Overall winners were the team of Greg Dickason and Lulu Bingham.
Diarise the following: Friday, 13 March social bowls at 2.30pm followed by the weekly dinner. Saturday, 14 March DHL sponsored bulls eye challenge at 9am. This competition will put your bowling skills to the test. Lots of prizes to be won. Add your name to the players list on the notice board. A bring and braai will be held after the competition.
