RWFL members log big miles over holidays

WITH 2015 here, members of Run Walk For Life (RWFL) Amanzimtoti are ready to start off the year fitter, faster and healthier than ever before.

There was little time for rest over the December holiday period with most members using the break to log some big miles. One such member was road captain for 2015, Warren Gibson.

Warren really put in some good training over December and it showed this past weekend.

Not only did he win the local Parkrun on Saturday in a creditable time of 22 minutes, healso took part in the Kearsney Striders 21.1km half-marathon on Sunday, where he had a really fast finish time of 1hr 42min on a tough and hilly course.

Warren started running at the tender age of nine while living in Johannesburg. He excelled in cross-country at school where he achieved his provincial colours. Long distance roadrunning is his passion now and he took part in his first Comrades Marathon last year where he finished in 10hrs 27mins.

He will be on the start line of that great event again this year and will certainly be hoping to improve on last year’s time. If you are interested in running or walking with like-minded people, no matter what your current state of fitness, contact Lee or Janine on 073-271-1514.
