Elsune flies Toti GC flag

Gill Symons showed the rest of the field a clean pair of heels with a solid 81 points.

AMANZIMTOTI Golf Club’s own Elsune Roode trekked to Cape Town last week to compete in two different tournaments, namely the Boland junior champs and the Nomads Western Province junior champs.

Elsune kept the Toti and KZNLGA flag flying high with two fourth place finishes, which is a really good achievement.

It is very pleasing to see so many younger golfers competing at Toti these days, which definitely bodes well for the future of the club.

Last Wednesday 27 players took part in the IPS competition, with the evergreen Bobby Milne once again showing the rest of the field how the game should be played by producing a stunning 43 points, followed by Nigel Johnson on 40 and Johny Vogel on 39 points.

The Friday nine-hole sundowner competition attracted a good field of 36 players, and was won by visitor Jeevan Beharie on 22 points, counting out Leon Moonsamy, with Preston Khomo in third place on 20 points, and Mike Halse taking fourth place on 19 points.

On Saturday the men played a 4BBB stableford format, contested by 57 players. Top spot went to the pairing of Norbert Dupont and Sheldon Grant with a fine 52 points, followed by Gordon Dunlop and Andy Walters on 49 points. The third place went to Buff Berry and Billy Williamson on 48 points. The two nearest the pins went to Mike Cockrell and Fred Wallace on the fourth and 15th holes respectively. Neither the jackpot nor the attendance prizes were won so these carry over to next weekend.

The women played a threeball alliance, waltz format (1,2,3 scores to count all the way round), and the team of Charmain Stone, Liz Donald and Gill Symons showed the rest of the field a clean pair of heels with a solid 81 points. In second place was the team of Thanda Zama, Jacqui Porrill and Wladzia Olivier on 78 points. Nearest the pin on the 15th went to Gill, who also had a two-club on that hole, as did Charmain.

A reminder, Amanzimtoti would love the opportunity to host all visitors so contact the pro shop on 031-902-4144 to book a round of golf on the beautiful course.
