Anglers lauded for landing big catches

Buccaneers again thanks Alan, Alison, bar and kitchen staff for their hard work, not only at prize-giving but throughout the year.

THE top anglers at Buccaneers Fishing Club have been named for 2014.

Fisherman of the year went to Brian Scott with top weight. One of his recorded catches was a honeycomb skate of 26.7kg.

Runner up went to Deon Jordt who also had the most fish caught throughout the year. Deon also took the prize for the most unusual fish of the year – an Ignobilis kingfish.

The junior prize was won by Aaron Jordt, Deon Jordt’s son and his heaviest catch recorded was a blue skate of 21.8kg, a brown skate of 9.5kg, and a grey shark of 8.4kg, just to mention a few.

Third place went to Dennis Nosworthy, whose biggest catch recorded was a black tip shark of 57.8kg. He also won the heaviest inedible category for the year.

The heaviest edible category winners was Gary Lloyd with a shad of 5.1kg. Gwen Higgs took the woman of the year and also the club person of the year.

The club’s first compo of 2015 will be 10 and 11 January.
