Juniors ranks swell at Toti AC

The Bluff Vets race on Sunday was supported by 16 Toti athletes with Tyrone, Martyn and Marco walking away with a lucky draw prize.

AMANZIMTOTI Athletics Club's junior section has grown from strength to strength, thanks to the dedicated coaching staff of Riaan, Tronel and George.

Training takes place from Mondays to Fridays at Hutchison Park from 4.30pm.

The development of athletes is important for the growth of local talent in the area, as these are future stars in the making.

With the full curriculum at school it’s not always easy to find the time to still train five days per week at the grass track but a dedicated group of juniors comes out everyday, in rain or shine, to make time to train.

Training focuses on fitness, strength and technique, and the coaching staff concentrate on the track and field, middle and long distance as well as sprinting. The global athletics conference was well supported and enjoyed by club members.

A reminder that the year-end prize giving for both junior and senior athletes takes place on 29 November at Lords and Legends at 3pm. The club will supply limited snacks and a cash bar will be available for runners to purchase refreshments. RSVP with Belinda by 27 November for seating arrangements. Call her on 083-408-0639.

The club will support the Queensburgh Mineshaft 15km run and walk on Sunday. Call Dean on 083-630-2423. This is a 6am start. The club tent is erected at races for members to have a safe place to store their bags and to allow them to socialise after a race, so support this facility.
