Ian wins coveted key draw at ABC

Birthday greetings go this week to Tony Darley, Talla Stephens-Viviers and Kathy Harding.

EXCITEMENT rose to fever pitch on Friday evening at Amanzimtoti Bowling Club, as the key draw was a must win.

Marion Crouch, Doreen Salmond, Callie Boyd and Debbie Groom each won R100 with a bonus key.

The popular winner of the correct key was Ian Mills who took home R10,000. Well done. The new draw starts next week starting at R1,000. Robyn Hutton won the 100 board for the second week in a row.

Gerald Chalder-Royle’s tab was drawn in the members’ draw however as he was not in attendance, next week’s prize is worth R200. Well done to Toni Roberts, who was voted club member of the month for her ongoing hard work in the kitchen.

Winklespruit thanks ABC for allowing their men’s nominated trips to be played at Toti, and thanks to Mickey Roche for stringing seven rinks for this. The winners were Ian Crouch, Duncan Wright and Peter Labuschagne; and runners-up were Bill Rawlins, Steve Evenwel and Jonty Denysschen. Second session went to Gerald Chalder-Royle, Ken Leech and Brad Cox.

In the Brad Cox singles competition Mardi Dovale beat Heather Brown; Michelle Pitchers defeated Maggie Robertson; and Adie Fuller overcame Peter Barnes.

In the men’s drawn fours, Doug Joubert, Andrew Pearce, Steve Evenwel and Ian McDonald defeated Greg McLeod, Neville Roscoe, Vish Studinski and Peter Snyman; Ian Crouch, Mike Roberts, Trevor Dempsey and Ben Venter were the victors over Clive Frank, Robbie Roberts, Brian Crause and Boet Els; Adie Fuller, Alf Bingham, Barry Buckland and Johan van der Westhuizen beat Glen Scorgie, Bobby Henderson, Keith Berry and Dave McMillan. Coy Schrauwen, Neil Oberholzer, Jeff van Belkum and Kokkie de Kock overcame Ian Shearer, Peter Barnes, Owen Turner and Leon van Rensburg.

The winners of Big Chicks on Sunday were Glen Scorgie, Guelfo Cobianchi, Yvonne Hooper and Ian Scorgie. Runners-up were Doug Joubert, Doug Walton, Mardi Dovale and Les John. In third place were Ian Mills, Dennis Hughes, Noreen Butler and Eric Klopper. First session was won by Coy Schrauwen, Marion Crouch and Maureen and Hennie van der Poe while second session went to Neil Oberholzer, Brad Cox, Trevor Dempsey and Cathy Cox. Lucky 13th prize went to Robbie Roberts, Jonty Denysschen, Gladys Hughes and Brian Pascoe. Most bowls was won by Colin Coetzee, Jane Coetzee, Vish Studinski and Marilyn Thiart.

Nita Meumann and Shane Tocher won 100 board prizes. Thanks to sponsors Jerry Gertzen, Gladys Hughes and Brian Pascoe, and to bar and kitchen staff as well as the greenkeeper and his staff. Next Big Chicks will be on 21 December.

Please note that mixed 2-4-2 will be on 28 November and not 21 November as was on the notice board. The women’s drawn trips will be played on 22 November; and women’s drawn fours is carded for 6 December, but if you can play before this, do so. Keep checking the notice board for upcoming events.
