Slaughter on Sapphire Coast pool league tables

A slaughter ensued as Nautical Mile A struggled to stay alive against the attack of Ollies C.

SAPPHIRE Coast pool league results from Wednesday, 13 August:

Silver Dollar A scored three of the four points in the first round and had an even second against Silver Dollar C. The third and fourth round panned out as the first two rounds.

The A team’s Barry Hill took an imposing full house with team mate Nico Davies and opponent Rudi Hunt each taking three of their four games. Silver Dollar C scuffled for points in the doubles and only managed one. Silver Dollar scored a complicated 11-6 victory.

Sapphire Cove B scrambled for points in the first round against Moulin Rouge A and managed an even second round. The third round brought Sapphire Cove B on par with their rivals. Moulin Rouge A left nothing to chance, fought back and managed a three point round in the fourth. Moulin Rouge A’s, Vincent Post and Pierre Boonzaier each took three of their four games. Sapphire Cove B’s win of first doubles game lifted the team’s spirits tremendously for a possible draw. As the black ball was engulfed, it was an ecstatic Moulin Rouge A who walked away with their close 10-8 victory.

A slaughter ensued as Nautical Mile A struggled to stay alive against the attack of Ollies C. The only two points taken by Nautical Mile were the eighth and ninth games in the singles matches. Buhle Maseko and Nhlaka Mkhwanazi took unrelenting full houses, with team mates Thoban Shezi and Njabulo Qiya each taking three of their four games. Nautical Mile’s final desperate attempt got them a single point in the doubles games and Ollies C scored a fantastic 15–3 victory.

Reef C and Ollies A were evenly matched after the first round. Although Ollies A led in the second round, had an even third round, scores were even again by the last singles game. Reef C’s Neel Chunderman and Ollies C’s Jaidin Nobin each took three of their four games. The doubles games also ended evenly. The teams drew with a face-saving 9-9.

Warnadoone B and Warnadoone C’s first two rounds panned out evenly. As the third round ended with Warnadoone B taking three of the four points, Warnadoone C reciprocated with a three point win in the fourth round. Warnadoone C’s Gareth Smith scored a grand full house with Warnadoone B’s Dennis Elle taking three of his four games. Warnadoone C won the first doubles match. Warnadoone B dropped the second game’s black ball which left the teams with a 9-9 draw.

Another slaughter took place as Warnadoone A scrambled for points against Sapphire Cove A. Although the first round ended on an even note, the next 10 games were seized by Sapphire Cove A. The last singles game was also the last point Warnadoone A was allowed. Warnadoone A’s Mark Russell took a spectacular full house, with team mates Glenn Fryer, Chané Coetzee and Mike van Heerden all taking three of their four games. The two doubles points to Sapphire Cove A to a glorious 15-3 annihilation.

Kingsburgh Sports B won the first two games of the first round against Warnadoone D, who took the next two games. Warnadoone D only allowed Kingsburgh B one point in each of the next three singles rounds. Warnadoone D’s Vinai Buth and Jody Naidoo each scored a fine full house. With two more doubles games in their pockets, Warnadoone D scored a splendid 13-5 victory.

Kingsburgh Sports B unfortunately forfeited their match against Silver Dollar B.
