In the finals, Greg and team met up with Don Saunders, Alf Bingham, Mike Roberts and Vish Studinski.

A SEMI-FINAL and the final of the men’s drawn four’s played out this week at Amanzimtoti Bowling Club.

The team of Greg McLeod, Robbie Roberts, Owen Turner and Pati Nelson had an extremely good semi-final game, putting down a seven and an eight to win through to the finals in very convincing style against Peter Callaghan, Ian Mills, Pete Shepard and Dave McMillan.

In the finals, Greg and team met up with Don Saunders, Alf Bingham, Mike Roberts and Vish Studinski. Don’s men took the lead from the sixth end, but Greg’s team manage to even the scores by the second-last end. However, Don’s team won by one shot on the last end to win the title in a very exciting conclusion.

The men’s nominated trips final with Ian Crouch, Lofty van Tonder and Ray Robinson against Peter Callaghan, Ian Mills and Micky Roche was also a very close game. Scores were fairly even, and the game could have gone either way until Pete’s team took a six followed by a four to clinch the winning spot on the honours board.

In a handicap singles semi-final, Alf Bingham maintained a steady lead over Peter Barnes to win his spot in the finals.

The third round of the nominated mixed pairs was a game of two halves, when Greg McLeod and Marion Crouch played Doreen Salmond and Eric Klopper. Doreen and Eric had a commanding lead initially, but Greg and Marion forged ahead in the second half to win the game. Well done to all who played in these competitions and good bowling to those still to compete.

Dallas Davis won the TGIF 100 board. As Babs Swartz was not present the attendance draw prize next week will be R350. Noreen Butler’s key did not fit in the key game so that prize rolls over to R2,500 for next week, but you have to be ‘in it to win it’, so buy tickets early. Birthday greetings go to Ian Mills, Adie Fuller and Gerald Chalder-Royle, and a reminder to all of quiz night on Wednesday, 20 August, and to watch the notice board for weekend cardings.
