WBC claim division five in men’s bowling league

The first session prize went to Cathy du Plooy, Maureen Freeman and Sandy Snyman.

AFTER a long battle between clubs, the men’s league came to an end on Saturday, 7 June.

Winklespruit Bowling Club (WBC) men’s league team, Fab u Lads played against Hillcrest and won both their games.

They are now the overall winners of division five. Well done boys, you have done the club proud.

The results from the women’s inter-club league team on Saturday, 7 June were, in round three against Amanzimtoti C, they won one and lost one. In round four against Durban A, they won one and lost one.

On Sunday morning, 8 June WBC hosted round five of the women’s league. Winkle played against Mount Edgecombe and won both their games. Well done women. Thank you to everyone who helped to make the day a success.

The club is thankful for all the support during the league from fellow bowlers and friends.

In the monthly women’s Victory Kwik Spar trips competition, Estelle van der Merwe, Gladys Yelland and Elmarie Young took the overall prize, while Elaine Critchlow, Norma Raath and Margaret van Belkum claimed the second session. The first session prize went to Cathy du Plooy, Maureen Freeman and Sandy Snyman.

The spider was won by Trish Farmer. The mystery prize went to Sandy Snyman and the 100 board winnings to Isabel Milne.

The Lincoln Steakhouse monthly 2-4-2 will take place on Sunday, 15 June. Check the notice board for teams and let Mac Appleby know if you cannot play.

On Saturday, 21 June it’s the the Saturday morning monthly 2-4-2. Let Brian Farmer know if you cannot play. Check the notice board for further information regarding Monday, 16 June.

Congratulations to Gert Nell on winning the May petrol draw. Last Friday’s attendance draw was a rollover as Greg Dikason was not present.

Members are reminded to check the notice board for cardings and to play the matches by the due date. Birthday wishes this week goes to Errol Theron, Freddy Hetterscheidt and Maureen Griffin. To members who are ill, the club hopes you will soon be back playing bowls. Good bowling to all.
