Toti AC lauds top Comrades finishers

This year the women showed the guys how to run Comrades, as Karen was the first Toti woman home and she managed a seventh place overall in her age group.

AMANZIMTOTI Athletics Club’s Comrades prize giving was a huge success, with warm weather and great fellowship.

This year’s winners were first man home Jabulani Shishani, second Chris Stange and third Mark McCalgan.

Well done to all the prize winners and a big thank you to the club, Chris and Belinda for organising the prize giving and trophies.

This year the women showed the guys how to run Comrades, as Karen was the first Toti woman home and she managed a seventh place overall in her age group.

Kirsty Wren ran as a novice this year and was the second woman home, this after she only started running in August last year. The men will have to pull out all the stops next year to redeem themselves.

Runners can look forward to a ‘Sardine Run’ on 29 June, a race over a distance of 21km or 42km hosted by South Coast Striders.

Cross country league five is at Yellowwood Park AC on Saturday, 21 June. This runs through the nature reserve. A reminder that the Goss and Balfe South Coast marathon takes place on 19 October. The organising committee is hard at work.

Weekly runs take place on Wednesday at 6pm, with an 8km or 4km time trial at Lords and Legends, while on Tuesdays, there is training with coach Cecil at 5.30pm. There’s also the Saturday 11km run from Pipeline at 6am and Sunday’s long run at 5.30am.
