Winkle BC spiders raise R450 for blind bowlers

Second session prize went to Coy Schwaren, Alec Stirzaker and Ron Greenslade.

LAST Thursday the monthly Kwik Spar men’s trips competition was held at Winklespruit Bowling Club.

The overall prize went to Mike Kruger, Bill Rawlinson and Lionel Bruce.

Second session prize went to Coy Schwaren, Alec Stirzaker and Ron Greenslade. The spider, held in aid of the Blind Bowlers Association, was won by Coy Schwaren. Thanks to all bowlers for their generous contribution, which resulted in R200 being collected. Coy was presented with the BBA’s badge for his donation.

In last week’s club competition results, round one of the mixed nominated pairs 2-4-2 saw Aubrey Toy and Maureen Griffin defeat Martin and Elmarie Young. In round two, Mack and Joyce Mackrory beat Bill Rawlinson and Susan Erasmus. In round one of the mixed nominated pairs old format, Brian Bodley and Eliane Critchlow defeated Allan Duncan and Charlotte Kohl. In the women’s drawn pairs 2-4-2, round one Eliane Critchlow and Trish Farmer defeated Annalie Pienaar and Susan Erasmus.

Congratulations to Doug Tinkler on winning the Friday, 9 May attendance draw.

On Sunday, 11 May the Lincoln Steak House monthly mixed 2-4-2 was played. Overall winners were Charlotte Kohl and Harry Van Vuuren. First session went to Mac and Yvonne Appleby, with the second session going to Bill Rawlinson and Lulu Bingham. For the second time this week, another spider was held in aid of the Blind Bowlers Association which raised a further R250, making a total of R450. Well done everyone. Harry Van Vuuren won the 100 board.

Next Saturday, 17 May, it’s the Clear Waters Spur monthly 2-4-2 starting at 9am. Check the notice board for teams, and advise Brian Farmer on 031-916-2387 or 082-483-5875 if you’re unavailable to play.

On Thursday, 22 and 29 May it’s the men’s 2-4-2, starting at 9am. Advise Mike Kruger on 031-903-2255 or 082-788-6429 if you are unavailable to play.

Members are reminded to check the notice board for cardings and to play the matches by the due date.
