Winkle BC men’s league team still top their division

Congratulations to Jeanette Els for taking the women's senior singles title against Charlotte Kohl.

WINKLESPRUIT Bowling Club sends congratulations to the men’s league team, after they played a home game against Hillary C.

They won both games and are still on top of the league in their division.

Well done boys, you have made us proud. The club is thankful for all the support from fellow bowlers and friends. On Saturday, 3 May they will play away against Durban Wanderers C.

On Monday, 21 April the ‘Easter egg hunt’ morning bowls was a great success. The second session prize went to Greg Dickason, Eddie Bingham and Lesley Bingham senior. Yvonne Appleby, Dries Snyman and Maggie Cormack took the overall prize. The whisky raffle was won by Sandy Snyman and mystery prize went to Eddie Bingham.

In last week’s club competition results, round one of the mixed drawn pairs saw Sonny Brunsdon and Norma Raath defeat Bill Rawlinson and Bessie Vergottini.

In the monthly Thursday Clearwater Spur men’s 2-4-2, second session went to Eddie Bingham and Martin Young. The overall prize went to Herbert Hofmann and Shaun Sutherland. The 100 board was won by Sonny Brunsdon.

The inauguration of the club’s floodlights, ‘women’s win all’ competition sponsored by Eddie Bingham was a great success and enjoyed by all who took part. The overall winners were Elaine Critchlow, Joyce Mackrory and Susan Erasmus. A special thanks to Greg and Eddie who spent many hours on the installation of the floodlights.

Last Friday’s attendance draw was not won as number nine, Estelle van der Merwe was not present.

Saturday’s league game at home against Hillary was well won by Winklespruit, who remain top of the league. Well done to the players and supporters.

In Sunday’s Clearwater Spur mixed trips, the second session went to Mike Joyce, Eddie Bingham and Bessie Vergottini. Overall winners were Mac and Joyce Mackrory and Mac Appleby. The 100 board went to Sandy Snyman.

Note that the women’s Victory Kwik Spar trips competition will not take place on 1 May as it is a public holiday.
