RWFL iron woman completes 10 eight km laps

The public is invited to join RWFL on their training their days.

IT was a great weekend for Run Walk For Life (RWFL) as whole starting from Friday’s long run to the 8x8km time trial route on Sunday.

The weekend started well with the long run, with numerous people participating from other clubs in addition to RWFL.

The club thanks everyone for the support given to its initiatives.

On Saturday, three members taking part in the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon. Tracy Hair, Lynette Botha and Peter Moodley all completed the marathon within the prescribed time, and have kept RWFL’s flag flying high. Well done.

At 4am on Sunday, RWFL Toti members, Toyota Running Club, Nedbank club and Mr Price Sport club took on Lizette’s 8x8km training challenge where you have to complete the old time trial route eight times. The weather played along and 10 members completed all eight laps with Vusi Mnyandu being the first one to complete the full eight. Iron woman Lizette Botha went on to complete 10x8km. Well done Lizette, you are an example to everyone and RWFL is proud to have you.

A total of 54 runners/walkers took part, which made it a huge success. Special thanks go to the water point manned by Andre Opperman near halfway. It was a real heavy-breather doing the uphill, which most athletes walked. He kept everyone well hydrated.

Put your name down for the Cansa relay. The club will advise when a new date has been set. Call Jan Botha on 082-290-4025.

The public is invited to join RWFL on their training their days, but are urged to wear either a reflective bib or bright coloured clothing. Training days are Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 5pm at Amanzimtoti High School.

Remember the Saturday 10km training run/walk at 6am from Amanzimtoti High School.

Sunday sees the running of the Chatsworth Freedom Marathon 52km run/25km run walk starting at 5.30am at Chatsworth Stadium. For more information call Dees Govender on 083-785-4333.
