Quiet Easter on Toti’s fairways

Saturday’s format for the men was 4BBB bonus bogey, and 83 players contested on the day.

THE Easter weekend was a quiet affair at Amanzimtoti Golf club, with no major activities taking place on the course.

It was however very good to see the number of social golfers and visitors who took to the fairways to enjoy the club’s beautiful facilities.

On Wednesday the IPS competition was well supported with 26 players vying for the honours, which went the way of Colin Scorer on 38 points by count out from Martin Tait, with Johan Vogel in third spot on 37 points.

Friday’s nine hole sundowner definitely felt the effects of a long weekend, with only 14 players venturing out onto the course. Winning the competition was Nigel Johnson on a fine 22 points, with Pete Bredenhann in second place on 19 points.

Saturday’s format for the men was 4BBB bonus bogey, and 83 players contested on the day. The pairing of Mike Igesund and Kalvin van Rensburg took the spoils with +13 on a count out from Steve Conlan and Kevin Wehrle. In third place was Carl Fryer and Peter Tiearney on +12, and taking fourth spot was Andy Walters and Mike Cockrell.

The jackpot was won by Mike Igesund, and if the results sheet can be believed, then nobody made the green on either the 4th or 15th holes – an omission of epic proportions, one thinks.

The women played IPS and Sue Daniels shot the lights out with a superb 41 points, followed by Charmain Stone on 37. Jebby Dyson beat Gerda Heydenrych into fourth place by count out on 36 points. To cap off a good day on the course, Charmain also had two 2-clubs on the 4th and 15th, and was nearest the pin as well.
