Boardroom B takes a beating

The Moulin Rouge D and Warnadoone C match was played in good spirits

SAPPHIRE Coast Pool league results from Wednesday, 9 April:

Nautical Mile B and Warnadoone A’s first round was even. Nautical Mile only won two more games by the end of the singles division. Warnadoone’s Joseph Jacobs scored a full house and teammates Sheldon Birk and Alex Paterson each took three of their four games. Warnadoone’s one doubles loss to Nautical Mile left them with a very comfortable 13-5 victory.
Silver Dollar A only allowed Moulin Rouge B a point each in the first two rounds. By the end of the third round, there was no chance for Moulin’s recovery. Silver Dollar’s Deon Pool scored a full house with Petrus Naude and Siyabonga Zungu winning three of their four games. A share in the doubles games left Silver Dollar A with an easy 12–6 win.
Warnadoone B’s comfortable three point first round lead against Silver Dollar B left them too comfortable. After a draw in the second round, Silver Dollar grabbed three of the third round’s points. The fight back left Warnadoone and Silver Dollar tied. Warnadoone’s Patrick Crowley took three of his four games and a full house was scored by Silver Dollar’s Lizelle Zietsman. Lizelle also won her doubles game with partner Jolene Thiart. A split in the doubles left the teams with a ‘would’ve, should’ve, could’ve’ nine-all draw.
Ollies B left the scraps for Boardroom A, allowing only one point wins in the first and second rounds and two points in the third round and the doubles games. Levin Poonan took a full house and teammates Dillon Chetty and Aslin Pillay won three of their four games. Ollies B had a walk over 14-4 win.
Boardroom B took an awful beating from Reef C. Teammates ‘Gibbs’ Ebrahim, Ian Kaye, Predesh Debipersadh and Keeran Naidoo each scored a full house and won the doubles games as well. A spectacular killer win for the Reef C team, of 18-0.
After Ollies D and Moulin Rouge A’s first round ended with even scores, Ollies only allowed two more points. Ollies’ Devesh Debipersadh scored a full house and teammates Mark Naidoo and Kershen Chami each took three of their four games. A split in the doubles points left Ollies with a cracking 13-5 victory.
The 1-3 loss of the second round still could have allowed Sapphire Cove B to at least break even against Ollies C team, playing with one player short. Ollies teammates Phila Mkhize, Mike Msomi and Buhle Maseko each won three of their four games and the even score in the doubles left Ollies C with a 10-8 victory
Silver Dollar B and Sapphire Cove A singles games ended in a draw. Siler Dollar’s Heini Moll took a full house and opponent Glen Fryer scored three of his four games. A nail-biting final doubles game allowed for at least a relieved draw for both teams. Warnadoone and Reef D walked down the singles 16 point road, sharing them game after game.
Reef’s Barry de Beer took a full house and Johnny Roets took three of his four games, as did Warnadoone’s Rasta Ngcobo. Warnadoone was pipped at the post when the first and second doubles games were snatched by Reef, who walked away with a shaky 10-8 lead.
The Moulin Rouge D and Warnadoone C match was played in good spirits, with Brian Childsmith taking first blood against Kobus van Zyl. The first round saw both teams taking two points each. Chloe van Rensburg didn’t even have to try hard as the Moulin Rouge players helped her by three of their players sinking black. The playing fields were on an even keel right up to the final set, when the Moulin Rouge players took all four games, leaving their opponents in a dismal state. The doubles saw Val and Tash beating Chloe and Kobus, and John and Brian beating Justin and Willie. This was the absolute final nail, sealing a convincing win for Moulin Rouge 12-6.
