Tommy takes the hot seat at Toti CCC

AMANZIMTOTI Country Club and Conservancy (CCC) is happy to announce that Tommy McNaughton will be taking over the reins at Amanzimtoti Golf Club for the year ahead.

The decision was not taken lightly, but in view of the coming centenary year and the women hosting the KZNLGA inter-club championships, as well as the need for a constant leader.

Toti CCC wishes Tommy a good year in the hot-seat, and trust that all the members will provide their fullest support to him and his committee.

There are only two weeks to go until the first official inter-club fundraising event, namely the rose and thorns competition which takes place on the public holiday on Monday, 16 December. Tee off times are from 11am until noon. All players pay members’ green fees apply plus R30 per player competition fee. Contact the pro shop on 031-902-1166 to book a time.

Last Saturday the men played a fourball alliance, two scores to count on the par 3’s, three scores to count on the par 4’s and all four scores to count on the par 5’s. Winning first prize was the team of J Vosser, A Otto, W Nel and their ghost partner on 123 points. Second place went to B Viljoen, E Crots, W van Wyk and their pivot on 122 points. Third spot went to G Vosser, F Klopper and S van Niekerk, paired up with their ghost partner, on 117 points. The two nearest the pins went to B Berry and J Pieterse on the fourth and 15th holes respectively. The attendance prize and jackpot prize both carry over again to next week.

On Wednesday there were 28 players competing for the IPS win, and the order of position, done by way of a count-out as all three scored 36 points, were C Scorer, B Aldgate and J van der Merwe.

Friday’s meat competition was contested by 42 players, and top spot went to Ashwin S on 23 points, followed by Archie Mkhize on 20 points oco from J Pieterse, and K Moodley took fourth spot on 19 points.

The plans for the proposed upgrade to the bar layout are on display on the notice board in the pub. All members should make some time to study these plans and sign for their preferred design.
